Pressure Equipment Directive (PED)

Pressure Equipment Directive (PED, 97/23 / EC) is one of these directives. Any design pressure of more than 0.5bar equipment, regardless of pressure, volume why, must comply with the provisions of PED. Equipment such as fire extinguishers, pressure gauges, valves, safety valves, air tanks, tower tanks, piping, fittings, steam equipment, etc. that load or convey fluids must comply with the PED regulations.

PED was adopted on 29 May 1997 and has been effective from 29 November 1999. It has a grace period of 30 months until 28 May 2002, which means that the product may have the option of applying the PED or the original rules of each country However, those applicable to all countries can only circulate in the territory of the country). Since May 29, 2002, the original rules of all countries will be abolished. PED has become a compulsory law for pressure equipment in Europe. Therefore, pressure equipment manufacturers should respond as soon as possible, so as not to be denied the door to the European market outside.

PED is applicable to all countries in the European Economic Area (EEA), namely the EU15 (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Spain, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Finland, Sweden and the United Kingdom) Plus European Free Trade Agreement Member States (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway).
Pressure equipment products (such as fire extinguishers, pressure gauges, valves, safety valves, air tanks, tower tanks, pipelines, pipe fittings, steam equipment, etc. that carry or convey fluids) that have been sold to the EU since May 28, 2002, Pressure Equipment Directive (PED, 97/23 / EC) must be complied with. Any design pressure exceeds 0.5bar equipment, regardless of pressure, volume why, must comply with the provisions of CE-PED.

According to the PED Code, pressure equipment and components above a certain pressure / volume threshold must:

With security

Meets basic safety requirements for design, manufacture, and testing

Meet the appropriate conformity assessment procedures

Affixed with the CE mark and the relevant provisions of the label

Pressure equipment and components below a specific pressure / volume threshold must:

With security

According to the sound engineering design and manufacturing, affix the relevant provisions of the labeling (you can not affix the CE mark) Selection of product classification and conformity assessment mode manufacturers must be analyzed for product classification in order to respond to different PED different pressure equipment Provisions. Products fall into five categories: PED Clause 3.3 (designed and manufactured to improve the engineering practices of Member States), and five categories I to IV. The higher the risk, the higher the classification level and the more stringent the regulations.
