The introduction of Argentina certification stage
To ensure the public safety in the use of the electrical appliances, Argentina requires that electrical products which listed for sale must meet the corresponding safety requirements. Argentina issued its resolution in February 16, 1998, said that a mandatory certification system has been established to enable the electrical products sold in the Argentina market must to meet the minimum safety requirements. The implementation of the system is divided into three stages:
Stage one: Certificate of Conformity
Certification at this stage is similar to CE certification in Europe. All electrical products entering the Argentina market are required to have a certificate of conformity, that is, we usually refer to the CE certificate.
Stage two: Type Approval
The product will be obtain the type approval certificate after tested at the IRAM accredited laboratory, Type approval requires safety testing only, and without factory inspection, but no signs of safety certification can be used on the product.
Stage three: Product Certification
At this stage, all products sold on the Argentina market must obtain national certification marks. The products pass the certified may use the "S" sign.
At present, the Argentina certification is coming to the third stage, That is, the product certification stage transition, the type approval certificate is still accepted in Argentina.
But in 2001~2002, the product will gradually complete the transition to the certification stage.
