IMQ Certification Introduction
IMQ certification is the abbreviation of the Italian Institute of Quality Marking. Founded in 1951, it is an independent, not-for-profit organization responsible for the inspection and certification of electrical and gas appliances and their materials.
IMQ certification currently controls about 170 types of equipment, tests more than 3,000 new products every year, and has more than 16,000 certified products.
In Italy, the groups and organizations that support IMQ are the National Research Council (CNR), the Ministries of the Interior, Industry, Public Works, Labour, Post, Transport, Foreign Trade and Defence. Among the standing members of IMQ, in addition to the power boards of major cities, there are relevant committees, bureaus and associations interested in product certification.
