Introduction to IRAM Certification in Argentina
 

IRAM Argentina was founded in 1935 as a non-profit, private association. It acts as Argentina's national standards body and also independently conducts certification services. The Argentine certification system is mainly based on Resolution92/98, promulgated in 1998, and provides that from 31 December 2002, Products that fall within these limits must be inspected and certified by a certification body recognized by the Argentina Accreditation Organization (OAA).

 

The manufacturer can label the product with the Argentine S mark to indicate that the product is approved. The Argentine S mark is mainly based on the national IRMA standard or IEC standard. In fact, IRMA standards are largely based on IEC standards.

 

Resolution 92/98 is implemented in phases and contains a fairly broad product range and safety standards.

IRAM Mark

 

IRAM has been a certification body since the 1960s and currently certifies products in the following areas:

* Safety & Protection

* Toys

* Gas

* Lifting machinery

* Food

* Pharmaceutical, etc., and quality and environmental management systems.

 

It is a CB (Certification Body) for electronic technology products recognized by the OAA (Argentina) and a certification body for compulsory certification products recognized by the government. It is also a CB (Certification body) accredited by OAA (Argentina), INN (Chile) and INMETRO (Brazil) for Quality and environmental management systems and is a member of I-Qnet.
