Introduction to SASO Certification

SASO is the abbreviation of English SaudiArabianStandardsOrganization that Saudi Arabian standards organization.

SASO is responsible for the development of national standards for all daily necessities and products, and the standards also involve measurement systems, labeling and so on. In fact, many SASO standards are based on the safety standards of relevant international organizations such as the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). Like many other countries, Saudi Arabia adds some unique items to the standard based on the country's civil and industrial voltage, geographical and climatic environment, ethnic and religious habits, etc. In order to achieve the purpose of consumer protection, SASO standards are not only for products imported from abroad, but also for products produced in Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Industry and Commerce and SASO require all products contained in SASO certification standards to have SASO certification certificates when entering Saudi Customs. Products without SASO certificates will be refused entry by customs at Saudi ports.

The ICCP program provides three ways for exporters or manufacturers to obtain CoC certificates, and customers can choose the most appropriate method based on the nature of their products, the degree of compliance with the standards, and the frequency of shipments. CoC certificates are issued by SASOCountryOffice(SCO) authorized by SASO or PAICountryOffice(PCO) authorized by PAI

Route 1: Compliance verification before shipment
This method is most suitable for exporters or manufacturers who ship very small quantities. Pre-shipment inspection (PSI) and pre-shipment test (PST) should be applied before each shipment. If both are qualified, the CoC certificate can be obtained.

Route 2: Registration and pre-shipment inspection
This method is suitable for most customers, and its advantage is that each shipment inspection (PSI) is necessary, but each batch of goods does not need to be tested before shipment (PST). The customer can obtain StatementforRegistration(SfR) by submitting a declaration of conformity, and providing a test report that conforms to the importing country and relevant international or domestic standards, and stating that the product has met the basic requirements and national differences of the importing country.

Path 3: Form Certificate
This method can not only save the inspection fee or test fee before each shipment, simplify the repeated application procedure, but also ensure the delivery time, so it is favored by some large companies that ship more frequently or on a larger scale and pay attention to quality and reputation. Exporters or manufacturers can only obtain StatementforLicence(SfL) certificates if their products fully comply with the mandatory standards of the importing and exporting country. The certificate is valid for one year and can be renewed after submitting the updated factory inspection report and paying the annual fee and being reviewed by the RLC. Products that obtain SfL certificates no longer require pre-shipment inspection (PSI) for each batch of goods, and are reduced to a few sampling inspections a year (generally 2-3 times/year, depending on the condition of the product).

Method 1 and 2 Calculation of inspection costs before shipment:

1, FOB in US$3,001-60,000 Ship inspection fee is: US$300

2, FOB in US$60,001-200,000 Ship inspection fee is: 0.5% of FOB

3, FOB in US$200,001-1,000,000 Ship inspection fee is: US$1,000+(FOB-US$200,000)X0.4%

4, FOB more than US$1,000,001 ship inspection fee: US$4,200+(FOB-US$1,000,000)X0.15%
