KEMA sells part of its Testing and Certification Business to DEKRA
 
    DEKRA, a leading European specialist, and KEMA, a globally active energy consultancy, testing and certification company from the Netherlands, have agreed to sell part of KEMA's testing and certification business. KEMA Quality tests and certifies low-voltage equipment, electrical components, electronic and medical products, and management systems. KEMA Quality has approximately 600 employees and annual revenues of €60 million in 2008. The company has testing laboratories in the Netherlands, Germany, Italy and China. With 19 offices on three continents, KEMA Quality has a strong international presence. Dr. Klaus Schmidt, Chairman of the Board of Management of DEKRA e.V. and DEKRA AG, said: “ With this acquisition, we have established a strong position in the growing product testing and certification market. ” Pier Nabuurs, Chairman of KEMA's Executive Committee, said: “ With this sale, KEMA will now focus more on the development of its core businesses in the energy value chain. ”
 
    With this acquisition, DEKRA, Europe's leading testing company, greatly strengthens its strong position in product testing and certification. For example, DEKRA acquired an internationally renowned testing brand: KEMA-KEUR. KEMA Quality has a wide range of certifications covering all relevant standards. With this acquisition, DEKRA has significantly strengthened its business unit DEKRA Industrial, which currently employs 4,500 people.  
 
    With this transaction, KEMA further emphasizes its growth strategy to increase its focus on business, technical and operational energy consulting, as well as quality assurance, testing and operational support for the energy industry, including testing and certification of high-voltage equipment and components. The company holds global leadership positions in several areas of the energy value chain and has demonstrated strong business growth over the past few years. KEMA's sale of its subsidiary to DEKRA, a company pursuing continued growth in the industrial and product testing business areas, also presents an excellent growth opportunity for KEMA Quality. KEMA Quality and DEKRA complement each other perfectly in terms of service coverage and geographical coverage.
