REACH

EU / The new PAHS testing standard in Annex 17 of REACH regulation will be implemented on January 1, 10 years

REACH regulation Annex 17 for PAHS testing new standards on January 1, 10 years implementation

The regulation on the restriction of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in tires and filling oils in Annex 17 of the EU REACH Regulation has been officially implemented on January 1, 2010.
The Ordinance states:
1. If the filling oil contains PAHs in excess of the prescribed concentration, it shall not be placed on the market or used in the production of tyres or parts of tyres:
The total amount of benzo (a) pyrene (BaP), Benzo (e) pyrene (BeP), Benzo (a) anthracene (BaA), Qu (CHR), Benzo (b) fluoranthrene (BbFA), Benzo (j) fluoranthrene (BjFA), benzo (k) fluoranthrene (BkFA), dibenzo (a,h) anthracene (DBAhA) shall not exceed 10mg/kg. And the benzo (a) pyrene (BaP) does not exceed 1 mg/kg.
According to the Petroleum Institute's standard IP344:1998 "Testing polycyclic aromatic compounds in waste lubricating crude oil and petroleum distillates without asphalt - dimethyl sulphone refractive index method" test, if the content of polycyclic aromatic extract is less than 3%, it is equivalent to the above limit. The manufacturer or importer is required to conduct controls every six months or after each critical process change, whichever is earlier, to meet the BaP and listed PAHs limits.
2 - After 1 January 2010, tyres or tread used for retreading shall not be placed on the market if they contain filling oil exceeding the limit value in paragraph 1.
According to ISO 21461 "Vulcanized rubber - Test for aromaticity of oil in vulcanized rubber compounds", the vulcanized rubber compounds tested and calculated do not exceed the limit value of 0.35%, which is equivalent to the above limit value.
3. By lowering the requirements, paragraph 2 shall not apply if the tread of the retreaded tyre contains a filling oil that does not exceed the limit value set out in paragraph 1.
4. The general tires of the above provisions refer to the tires of the vehicle, including:
& ndash; Directive 2007/46/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 5 September 2007 establishing a framework for motor vehicles and their trailers;
& ndash; Directive 2003/37/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 May 2003 on the type identification of agricultural or forestry tractors and their trailers and interchangeable tractors, together with their systems, components and separate specialised components;
& ndash; Directive 2002/24/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 March 2002 on the type identification of two-wheeled and three-wheeled vehicles, repealing Directive 92/61/EEC. - < / span > < a href = "http://www.globalgd.com/" > < strong > ETL certification body < / strong > < / a > < / div >
