Brazilian ANATEL certification is a certification for telecommunications products
Anatel certification is divided into mandatory and voluntary certification. The approval procedure is the same for both domestic and foreign products. If the product is subject to compulsory certification, the test results and reports of the product must be consistent with the rules and regulations adopted by ANATEL. The product needs to obtain the authorization certificate issued by ANATEL before it is put into use.
Mandatory certification scope
Three categories of telecommunications equipment require mandatory certification:
Type 1
Terminal equipment connected to a fixed switching telephone service (FSTS) network through an endpoint;
Equipment connecting private telecommunications networks to FSTS networks;
Equipment connected to the FSTS network for the purpose of providing value-added services.
Type 2
Type I does not cover any equipment that uses a radio, such as low-voltage devices, unauthorized equipment, and antennas.
Type 3
Any equipment not covered by Type I or II that is regulated by ANATEL's rules and regulations.
