1, component requirements: The control circuit related to safety functions must use technically mature components in the design, selection and assembly process, that is, have been widely and successfully used in similar application fields, or components manufactured according to reliable safety standards, and the use of mature technology. The safety control circuit should be able to withstand the expected operating intensity, and be able to withstand the influence of the working medium during operation and the influence of the relevant external environment. When designing the circuit, components that are extremely safe and reliable should be used, and the possibility of failure of such components themselves can be ignored. At the same time, in order to avoid short circuit, reduce the incidence of failure, determine the type of failure, accurately detect the fault and avoid the occurrence of secondary faults, measures such as: isolation circuit, sufficient carrying capacity, timely open and power off when the fault occurs, good grounding and so on can be used.

In paragraph 9.2.2 of the EN60204-1 standard, three categories of stops are specified:
- Stop Category 0: Stop by immediately cutting off the power supply to the machine equipment, that is, stop being uncontrolled.
- Stop Category 1: controlled stop, the power supply to the actuator of the machine equipment is maintained, so that the machine equipment gradually stops. The power supply is cut off only when the machine has stopped completely.
- Stop Category 2: Controlled stop, the power supply to the machine equipment drive device is maintained.
